The Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC) is one of six NOAA Regional Climate Centers administered by the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). Our center is located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The SRCC serves the six-state region that includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. Our services and research help to explain climate and its impacts in the South, provide practical solutions to specific climate problems, and allow us to develop information about climate-sensitive issues such as agriculture, climate change, energy, tropical storms, the environment, human health, risk management, transportation, and water resources.

The SRCC has four mission components:

  • Provide high-quality climate data, derived information, and data summaries for the South.
  • Monitor and assess regional climate conditions and their impacts.
  • Develop and maintain specialized historical climate data sets.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct applied research on climate-related issues and problems.

We provide services to the public through a web-site that offers information on a variety of climate-related topics. Specialized requests for information can be obtained by contacting a Climate Service specialist. at the SRCC. We offer fee-based answers to individual requests, subscription services for on-going climate information needs, and development of specialized products tailored to individual customer needs.
